Join our virtual caroling project🎶!
Christmas is coming and it is time to deck the halls and share our Christmas joy with others!
Although we cannot carol in person this year, we will be putting together a virtual caroling project to share some classic Christmas songs with those that are homebound or in nursing homes-those that our wonderful Religious Education students would have normally visited in person for a very special night of caroling.
While the Religious Education students and Youth Choir singers will play a big role in sharing their voices to get this project up and running, we are calling on the Parish community as a whole to lend your voices in support of our young parishioners' work and those members of our community that will find cheer in listening to our carols this year.
How it works:
1. Print your Christmas song packet - please be respectful of copyright permissions! If anyone else wants copies, direct them to me please! maurab@stjoegold.org is the best way to reach me!
2. Sit down with two devices - one to listen (must be able to play the provided sing along tracks), and one to record - and your song packet.
3. Plug a good set of headphones into your listening device (be sure your headphones do not have a microphone, or that the microphone feature is turned off).
4. Get your other device ready with a recording app. Any basic voice recording app will do!
5. Start recording-then press play to listen to the sing along track.
6. Sing with your whole heart full of Christmas joy!
7. Send me your vocal recordings-maurab@stjoegold.org
8. NOW you can listen to your vocal track if you want. Or you wait until the final product is released. Or you can ask me to send you your track layered with the sing along track to give you a sample of how it turned out.
*Fair warning-listening to yourself with no other music is really freaky-do not let that stop you from sending it-I promise it will sound 10,000 times better with the music and other voices with it when I have it all put together.
Don't worry about volume levels too much-I can adjust that.

Please consider trying this project out this year! The more voices the better to warm the hearts of our community members that can't be with us right now! All recordings to be included must be sent to maurab@stjoegold.org by December 14th.
You do NOT need any musical training-if you have ever sung a Christmas carol ever in your life, you are qualified, I promise! Besides, I know you have good voices out there - I've heard you singing at Mass and it's lovely - always makes me smile!
